Core Features
HSBC serves over half of Britain's households, but expats sending money home routinely leave the app for third-party providers offering better rates, transparency and speed.
- Every interviewed expat used a third party to send money abroad
- Participants managed their finances manually, on paper or in spreadsheets
- Users wanted notifications and alerts on their transactions
- Remittance and budgeting integrated in the bank's own app was a clear wish
I designed a remittance feature that lives natively in the HSBC app, shaped by the open banking opportunity and Jack, the persona at the centre of the research.
